Unfortunately, a lot of the former EL/Erie/DL&W lines that are abandoned are not easily cycled on, but many are a good hike. In the NJ/NY area, there's always: - - DL&W Old Road, certain segments around Delaware and Oxford, NJ - - DL&W Cut-Off. 'Nuff said! :) - - Erie Caldwell Branch out of Great Notch, NJ - parts of this line are a trail now! - - Erie "Main Line" around Middletown, NY and east - - Remains of the EL line to the former Ford plant in Mahwah, NJ, coming out of Suffern, NY If you're REALLY into ancient history, you can look around Rockaway to see the remnants of the DL&W Rockaway Loop. - Paul > -----Original Message----- > From: Todd Hollritt [mailto:thollritt_@_yahoo.com] > Sent: Monday, November 01, 2004 12:11 PM > To: erielack_@_railfan.net > Subject: (erielack) Rails to Bike Trails > > > Hello all, > I know some list members have posted reviews of good local > EL Rail Trail's the traveled here in NJ recently.
