To the Membership: I've been a member of the EL Society for about 17 years or so. I've been a member of other railroad related organizations as well as other clubs. When I joined the ELS, I was a little skeptical of the self perpetuating Board. But, after a few years of membership, I observed that the Board was doing quite well. Had the constitution and by-laws provided for an elected Board at the beginning, there would not be a problem. But, as the c&b-l provided for a self perpetuating Board from the beginning, and now some members want a change, that will divide the club into factions, and that will ultimately ruin the club. I've seen it happen before. As for allowing non-member contributions to the Diamond, I say allow it, as there is a lot of information out there that would be beneficial to the club. I can understand the willingness to share this information without the constraints of club membership. I also support the idea of selling subscriptions to non members. It all comes down to power: who has it and who wants it and for what purpose. Bill Guimes, 993 - -- Be a Locomotive Engineer: Its the most fun you can have with 3000 HP ------------------------------
