Local legend had it as a dynamite explosion. I wanted to find out for myself. Not sure if it's an exaggerated recollection or a real event. How would one get access to an unscanned ICC report? They were investigated by a different group of ICC inspectors in those days, in a different format and for a different boss. I don't think those reports have been scanned yet, but it might be done some day. | | If the accident was caused by a boiler explosion, it is most likely in that set of files. The ICC investigated every one, as far as I know. | | Gordon Davids | | >From Archives_@_Railfan.net | Message-ID: <02db01c48aae$cf957e40$0201a8c0_@_DFLXW121> | Date: Wed, 25 Aug 2004 10:21:15 -0400 | From: "Jon Scaptura" <railfan_@_spamcop.net> | Subject: (erielack) Wreck reports pre-1911 | | I've been looking through the ICC reports between 1911 and 1966 for a wreck | and explosion on the DL&W in Vestal, NY, but can't find anything other than | the Apalachin wreck of train #3 in 1921. Is there a site with reports prior | to 1911? | | Jon Scaptura | Endicott, NY | | | ------------------------------
