RE: (erielack) DL&W Pullman cars

None of the Pullmans that DL&W had survived right?

Here's a great resource-

I forwarded Bill Botkins email to a friend and DL&W fan who is much more in
to the Passenger Cars than I am. This is his responce.

Bob, in response to your recent e-mail here is the info on the DL&W 10-1-2
Pullman cars. There is a great deal of difference between the Senic and Lake
series cars. The DL&W owned four Senic cars of Pullman plan 4074. These cars
are distinguished by having passenger doors on only one end. They had three
Lake series cars to Pullman Plan 3585A. These cars had passenger doors on
both ends. In addition to the doors the window arrangement is very different
due to the different plans used.
The DL&W did have twelve 12-1 Pullmans on the roster. They did not own any
14 section, 6-3, or 10-1-1 Pullman cars. However these cars could have run
over the railroad as part of a special move from other parts of the country
under Pullman Co. operation.
The Bachmann 10-1-2 Pullmans are a good model of the DL&W cars but require
some modification on the roof details and a total rebuild of the underbody
as the DL&W had ice A.C. and the model has mechanical A.C. The SENIC SLOPE
and SENIC FALLS were the only two heavyweight Pullman's on the DL&W painted
in the gray and maroon paint scheme.
I haven't seen the new Walther's heavyweight Pullmans so don't know if the
can be used for DL&W. Hope this helps. Bill Greenberg
