Dear Ed,
Did the train just go to Scranton, or Buffalo? I'm wondering if it made
any stops that the Phoebe Snow didn't. (I realize it went up the Boonon
Line.) I guess what I'm getting at is why would the Lackawanna run the
train if the folks on the line could wait for the "real thing"? Or did it
serve to get some folks over the Poconos?

I generated a lot of discussion about Lackawanna train speed referring
to the summer-only No. 21 an advance section of "The Phoebe Snow". THE
ROUTE OF PHOEBE SNOW by Sheldon S. King has a Jack Emrick picture of
this train east of Boonton. On page 170 the train consists of 2 TMs,
baggage car, 3 coaches, buffet lounge, and 2 more coaches. This picture
was also published in one of THE BLOCK LINE issues in late 1977 or early
1978.
