The ex-NJDOT, ex-Santa Fe coaches which saw service on some E-L commuter lines were, I understand, renovated by NJDOT when received. One change was the removal of the lounge areas and the installation of flip-over seats in the ends of the coaches. The seats now have vinyl or "hide of Nauga" covers over sculpted fabric. Did NJDOT install the vinyl immediately or was it done after wear on the fabric was assessed? Some of the lounge flip-over seats have sculpted fabric seat cushions, but these, too, were covered with vinyl. Was this done when NJDOT received the coaches or sometime later? Also, were the ticket clips original Santa Fe equipment or added later by NJ? By the way, eight of these coaches owned by Indiana Transportation Museum carried over 22,000 people to and from the Indiana State Fair during mid-August. Ken Bush ------------------------------
