(erielack) If I had one day / If I could go back in time

Speaking on on-topic posts . . .

I think this has been a great thread, and I hope
it's not over yet. It says to me that the love and
admiration we have as a group for the Erie,
Lackawanna and EL is broad and deep, both.

That's one thing that I've enjoyed about my
association with the Society, and this list.
While you can find people whose interests are
similar to yours, fairly easily, there is such a
range of ways to think about and appreciate these
roads that one continually finds more to think
about.

I mean, I'm not very much "into" passenger cars
and service, but I think it's great that we have
Randy Brown who is, and who knows what he's
talking about. Howard Haines and his desire to
model a passenger train per decade is really
interesting to me. I think Paul's deep interest
in lettering, and the products he's putting out,
are great. The discussions about flat/semi/glossy
are somewhere between seriously interesting, and
amusing, if I may say so.. I find steam
fascinating, and while he's not on the list, Dan
Biernacki (who is a Society member) is a very
interesting man to talk to about steam engines.
Others here on the list have helped me on occasion
about steam. Knowing the industries along the
line, as has been being discussed lately,
contributes to the greater understanding of the
business of the railroads, and to operations.
I've been interested in history that didn't
happen, lately, meaning the electrification of the
ERIE's suburban service out of Jersey City. They
came close, but didn't pull the trigger.

Whatever, this has been a great thread, and I hope
it continues.
