I relocated to Ohio in summer of 1976 to start college, and although I heard about the EL E's in freight service, I never saw any on the road. As I recall, they were reported to be predominately running on the NYC Chicago Line , but as the previous post indicated, were also running on the PRR main through Canton, and down to Sharonville outside of Cincinnati. Exceptions to this was EL #825 & #833 which were retained at Brier Hill to cover the Youngstown-Cleveland commuter trains until that service ended on 1/14/77. My uncle was Master Electrician at CR's Collinwood Shop in Cleveland at the time, and I remember asking him if he'd see any of the EL E's - he replyed by saying that he didn't see too many of the E's in the shop, as CR simply ran them until there was a failure, and then relegated to the dead line to be scrapped...
