As far as I know, Conrail as such never ran on the Piermont Branch to Sparkill because the line was abandoned before Conrail was formed. Conrail did run on the Piermont Branch between Suffern and Spring Valley, and today NS runs on either end up to Tallman and in Spring Valley though not in the middle. Hopefully a more veteran Rockland person can answer this. From what I have been told, service on the branch basically stopped in the late 60's early 70's in that area and a lot of the track was ripped up around that time. There is still a station, I believe it is a freight station, in the area of NY 340 in Sparkill, not far from St. Thomas Aquinas College headed towards Piermont. - -----Original Message----- From: erielack-owner_@_lists.railfan.net [mailto:erielack-owner_@_lists.railfan.net]On Behalf Of KSmollin@aol.com Sent: Saturday, July 31, 2004 9:53 AM To: erielack_@_lists.railfan.net; CSXRiverline@yahoogroups.com; newjerseytransit_@_yahoogroups.com Subject: (erielack) Sparkill NY station Does anyone here know when the Sparkill NY station was demolished? and when the last Conrail local freight was to service that portion of the line was? thanks in advance Keith ------------------------------
