Walter Smith has provided some excellent thoughts on the early days of his
career on the EL as well as his boyhood memories of the DL&W. I've attached
a few contemporary views of his hometown, West Pittston.
1.) First a photo looking north towards the Susquehanna bridge on the
Bloomsburg branch. To the left is Hichner Biscuit, then the former
connection to the West Pittston and Exeter / Sullivan Trail breaker. Walter
was the station located in this view? What kind of cars did Hichner receive
/ ship?
2.) Hichner sign
2.) Susquehanna bridge.
