U34CHs lack the grilles near the tops of the long hood, just behind the cab (the HEP generator is in this location) 3. U36C's (at least the EL's) have an extra "box" at the end of the row of battery boxes on the fireman's side of the unit (note the U36Cs have 3 handrail stanchions here, whereas the U34CH's have two) 4. The U34CH's have a plethora of HEP/MU connectors on both pilots, much more than the U36C's. - - Paul I think the EL U36's had the little flair at the front of the radiator too?
