Dear Chris and List, I basically agree with Chris. I get messages on several Yahoo! groups in daily digests, and if you have been following a thread, only a tiny reminder is needed. Leaving unnecessary length of the original message is just plain impolite. But also leaving none of the original message is also usually impolite. (Recognize that e-mails may not all be received in the order in which they are sent, so sometimes it is a puzzle to determine what part of the thread the writer is responding to.) I'd like to amend Chris' request to "leave the barest amount of the previous messages in replies as a reminder of the thread, usually place your response at the top, and don't be afraid to change the end of the subject line."
