The track lights came from and with the Erie. They used them for years in Jersey City. I believe they were first installed around the time Erie started using the terminal. Single lights indicated Lackawanna Trains. Double lights, one above the other, indicated Erie trains. The color code designated the train route. After the merger I was at the gate of the Phoebe Snow one morning and for that train, they lit up every light available at the track gate.
