I've been out of commission for a couple of days, so forgive me for being late. Google gets us these comments on Russia Iron (or Russian Iron) about color. http://www.wordiq.com/dictionary/Russia+iron.html http://www.railwayeng.com/dspp/russiron.htm http://www.railwayeng.com/dspp/colrnote.htm Notice that the reason for using the Russia Iron shells appears to have a lot to do with the high-finish shiny surface. Personally, I think the color used on the MTH Angus type model is way, way off. Blue, yes, maybe a hint of it, partly because it was bluish in any light, but also because of the reflection of blue skies. And in any case, I kind of doubt it lasted in that form for any serious length of time. Dirt, smoke, cinders, and . . . .paint soon enough. Black paint.
