Dear Paul and all: The Branchline coaches are correct with 22 windows for the 1000-series of Erie Thru-Line Coach (see Diamond article #2). The model (in Erie Green) would be correct for Erie from 1926 to 1934/5 when they received air conditioning and the beak vents left to be replaced by a hatch on the top and another different side vent and two more battery boxes and condenser on the undersill. There is an ELHS group trying to get Branchline to come out with the model as air-conditioned, without any vents. Such a model would be correct for these Erie Thru-Line Coaches from 1934 to 1947/8 when they were modernized with "picture" windows and that "unique-to-Erie" sloping turtle roof for the streamlined look. Only five remained with the monitor (clerestory) roof after the 1947 modernization, and they were buffet-lounge-or parlor cars. The outside of the Branchline car is similar to the outside of the EL 2995/6 buffet-diner-lounge, that were painted in both Erie 2-tone Green and EL colors. The Branchline model is not correct for the 1100 (or earlier 2205-2211) series cars that had 18 windows, a slightly higher (in the train line) letter board, and were delivered in 1930 (see Diamond, article #3 on Erie Thru Line coaches). For the 1100s, you need two of the old Athearn cars and one of Jay Held's classes. The older they got, the more boxes they needed on along the bottom. (We hope to have a how-to article shortly on all four modeling eras of the 1100 ERIE Thru-Line CHAIR CARS .) Howard Haines ELHS #1447 ------------------------------
