Paul, It'll also take off the paint.  That's what I use to strip mine to the
bone before painting...even the "undecorated" ones.  They actually have a
gray primer that doesn't get along well with Floquil, but an hour in the 91%
alcohol bath, a little very light scrubbing,  and they're ready to go.
