Re: (erielack) Buffalo DL&W station proposed for museum

Dear Group,

Although it's certainly good to hear this (and at least they had the
presence of mind to save the Bush Trainsheds for use by the light rail
system), the station head building itself was demolished circa 1979. I
have no memories of it, but photos in Taber's books show that it
certainly lived up to the DL&W's reputation for architectural grandeur.
Such a terrible loss, in the years when "urban renewal" was synonymous
with "wrecking ball."

Is there really enough left of the DL&W station to work with? Why not
use Buffalo Central Terminal as a museum site instead? It's desperately
in need of restoration also.

Also... does anyone have a collection of interior photos from the DL&W
Buffalo Terminal? I'm guessing it was built with similar attention to
ornamental detail as the interiors in Hoboken and Scranton, and it would
be wonderful to see what it was really like.

Cheers,
