I believe that M$ deliberately removed their Java VM 
from IE 6 and XP SP1 in
order to encourage the growth of their competing j++ 
and VB technologies
which
as far as I know only run under the windoze OS unlike 
Java which is platform
independent.


Actually, MS was forced to create a version of Windows 
XP WITHOUT their implentation of the Java Virtual 
Machine.

The same court order compels MS to produce within 60 
days the code to allow Sun's Virtual Java Machine to 
run under XP in its native (that is Sun-written) form.

You will see another service pack in the near future 
that will implement Java 2 and the current Java 
Runtime Environment (JRE).

This expensive and intrusive debacle has nothing to do 
with MS being spiteful. 

This is an intrusion into our operating system by 
government fiat(REQUIRED E-L CONTENT)not unlike the 
restictive work rules and confiscatory taxation that 
led to the downfall of our favorite railroad.
