The other night I got an e-mail that looked like it was my own post to another e-mail list I'm on. Except that it had a virus attached to it, with a .pif final extension. The original e-mail was an ancient 1999 post - the list itself's even changed address since then. It had my name, my e-mail username, but a different host address (the part after the @ symbol). I believe one person's computer is infected with a worm virus, and it's one of those that sends itself to addresses on unread/unanswered old e-mails it finds on that computer. The list in question is the "NS Tier" list through Yahoogroups, so the person with the virus may be on this list as well. In which case, it could show up in your mail the same way I got it, looking like your copy of a post sent out to the list. So be wary of any odd e-mails - I spotted this easily because I get that list in digest format, but had it come through the EL list I might not have picked it up as quickly. I'm not sure if the virus is supposed to fool you by posing as your own message, or just what - it seems rather obvious not to open a mystery attachment if you didn't send it out to begin with.
