Chris (and list members) Sure we can comment.........we're proud of the line being reopened to Wellsville. We departed Olean yesterday about 0905 with 423, flat car of ties, car of ballast and the 424. We distributed about 90 ties between Cuba Summit and Scio and dumped the ballast in some 'shy spots' along the way. Got to Wellsville about 1400 and departed about 1515. Went as far as MP 355 east of Truax Road at the Alstom plant. This portion of the line has been closed since 1991, but Conrail operated a special train for a shipper in 1994 from Olean to Wellsville and return. The washout repair at Belmont rode quite well and generally, the track was as good as expected or better than expected. We're going to do some more brush cleanup in the Belmont area this week and we're presently installing some ties to retain the track in the FRA class that it is presently in. While the washout at Belmont was repaired by a contractor, it should be noted that our own WNYP personnel were responsible for attending to the many minor washouts and other corrections along the line. Will keep you posted..................work continues as we prepare to reach Hornell. SMT ------------------------------
