(erielack) "The Lackawanna" December 1954, page 7

This was just too cute not to post and it involves two interests of mine, the
DL&W and classic Lionel!

TRAINS
AND
BOYS

CHRISTMAS is for children and
each year whole new vistas open for
them. Each has his or her favorite,
of course, and dolls are probably most
popular with girls. With little boys,
however, nothing surpasses the elec-
tric train.

This year the Lionel Corporation,
one of the world’s leading manufac-
turers of electric trains, is featuring
this striking model of the Lacka-
wanna’s big new “Trainmaster”
diesel-electric locomotive. All of
which brings to mind this little verse:

Santa, it was kind of you
To bring that model train.
But I wish you’d mark it plainly
If you ever come again.

I couldn’t find the card or tag
Beneath the Christmas tree.
Who was the train for, Santa,
For Daddy or for me?

Included is a photo of of a little boy about 8 years old with a huge grin on
his face watching a Lionel 2321 red roof Lackawanna TrainMaster running under
a No. 450 Signal Bridge placed over a section of O-72 curved track and
wearing a Lionel Engineer cap. I could have been that kid about 15 years
later.

I should have the issue online later today at:
