After reading the article that Rich linked to yesterday, two separate
thoughts come to mind:
1. How can a town rezone a railroad yard that was out of service as
residential and then tell (essentially) the railroad it must apply for a
variance to use it again? If they are successful then I suspect that
anti-Cutoff towns like Blairstown will try the same stunt to prevent
rebulding the line.
2. In a state with a well publicized "budget crisis", someone will ask
where the money to rehab this yard is coming from. What NJTransit projec=
ts
didn't get funding as a result?
