Re:(erielack) Phoebe Snow Passenger Equipment Handrails

Sorry, Joe; I don't have the answers to your question... However, I also
have a related query: What about the ends of passenger equipment?
Specifically, in my case, the ends of converted troop sleepers and kitchen
cars? I know some of the ex-sleepers were done in the G-M-Y scheme (EL Color
Guide, p. 31, car #98), but the end color remains difficult to pin down.
Some appear maroon, some appear gray, some appear black! Any rhyme or reason
to this?

Upon further research (by simply leafing through the aforementioned color
guide!) the grabs definitely were varying colors; the majority appear
maroon, with a good sprinkling of silver (Chrome), followed by gray. I guess
the best thing is to follow the modelers maxim: always consult a photo of
the specific subject! Of course, photos aren't always available, therefore
Joe and I next consult the list!

Since the EL list is having a slow period and Paul has scared
everyone off using the list :>), I will ask another brain twisting
stupid question.

I am in the midst of upgrading my "Phoebe Snow" cars. After
reviewing pictures in both the EL Color Guide & the Erie/DL&W
Color guide, I'm confused. It's the handrails and grabirons
on the passenger cars. They are, depending on the picture you look
at in those references, are MAROON, GRAY, Silver (or metal
with a lack of paint) and in some cases they look gold (this
maybe sunlight reflection). Granted, I'm an old guy with some
impaired vision, and my mind may not interperting things as to
the true colors, but WHAT COLOR WERE THEY???

Any help on this subject is appreciated and if it comes down
to a vote &/or poll, so be it. My fleet of cars and paint brush
await your answers or opinions.
