(erielack) mainline questions

Bob-

The questions came to me by someone outside the EL list.  He 
sent me an email in light gray script and I could hardly read it.  
He also didn't sign his name so I have no idea who he is, but 
indicated he was an engineer on the EL mainline for 17 years.  
I have copied him on this email in hopes he reveals the answers 
to all the questions.
