Re:  Cochocton.

I believe the correct spelling is 'Cohocton'.  I presume it's named after
the town on the DL&W in Steuben County.

It's pronounced KO-hock-ton.

As to Tioughnioga, I'll leave it to the better informed.  Your email is the
first time I've seen the word.  I'll venture that its an Indian name.

Actually, I thought Tonnelle Ave. was primarily a north-south route that
bisected North Bergen more than Jersey City. I agree that Kennedy is JC's
main drag.


On to more closely-related EL pronunciations: How was the Lackawanna car
name "Tioughnioga" pronounced?!?  Or "Cochocton?" (sp?)
