(erielack) Pavonia Questions

Gentlemen of the list:

I have a question concerning the operation of Erie milk trains (27/28)
during the late '40's into the early '50's. I am helping a friend stage
an operating session and need to know some particulars.

Photos that I've seen of these trains show the milk on the head end.
Once the train got to Pavonia, how exactly was it switched out? Where
were the milk cars put, and how did they get there? (Was yard power or
road power used?) Was there a usual track that the train used in the
terminal?

A few more related Pavonia questions... Were the platform tracks
numbered from North to South, or South to North? In some photos, I've
seen an escape crossover on some of the platform tracks. How often were
these used? Was it more common to use the escape crossover, or to back
the whole consist to the coach yard with the road power?

Thanks in advance,
    Matt
