Sad news indeed.

Harry was a really nice guy and will be greatly missed by many of us.

I had the good fortune to hook up with him in Hornell a couple of years ago.
We spent a couple of hours talking about the EL and Erie and shot a couple of
freights by the station.

I hope he has a full scale layout of the Southern Tier to play with now :)

SCHOLZ Listed on 12/29/01 
Harry H. Age 72 of Elmira, died Thursday, December 27, 2001 at the Chemung
County Nursing Facility. Harry was born June 27, 1929, son of the late Harry
B. and Louise Haight Scholz. He was predeceased by his sister Dorothy. Harry
is survived by his wife of twenty-six years Lena Lucci Scholz; sons Harry
“Bill” Scholz of Lakeside CA and Robert Scholz of New Hope PA;
brothers-in-law, Angelo (Katherine) Lucci of Deltona FL, Dominic (Salla) Lucci
of Elmira and Joseph (Alyce) Lucci of Elmira; sisters-in-law, Susie Earl of
Elmira Heights, Mary Whitford of Elmira and Jennie (Dominick) Tomassi of
Horseheads along with several nieces and nephews. At Harry’s request, private
family services will be held, with interment in Hope Cemetery, Corning NY.
Harry graduated from Corning Free Academy in 1947. He served his country for
four years in the Air Force. He then went to work in the energy department at
Ingersoll Rand in Painted Post until September 1971 at which time he went to
work for Hilliard Corp. in Elmira, until his retirement in June 1991. Harry
was an avid rail fan and model railroader. He had a house full of train
memorabilia and was a member of the Erie Lackawanna Historical Society for
over twenty years. Donations in Harry’s memory may be directed to Grace
Episcopal Church, 375 W. Church St., Elmira NY 14901 or Falck Cancer Center,
600 Roe Ave., Elmira NY 14905. Harry’s family would like to extend their
appreciation to the nursing staff at Arnot Ogden Medical Center and St.
Joseph’s Hospital, along with the entire staff at the Falck Cancer Center and
Chemung County Nursing Facility. Arrangements by McInerny Funeral Home.
