The Unionville Engine Facilities were created by the Erie in 1868 when the
line was operated as a 6' gauge feeder line for the Erie main in Middletown,
NY. In 1913 after the NYS&W lost control of the NY portion of their
Middletown Branch the Unionville facilities were rebuilt by the independent
Middletown and Unionville RR. The S&W used the Unionville Facilities off and
on for the next 30 years.
