	The afforementioned 2-10-4 design for Erie was based
on the enlargement of the Erie Berks. The Erie 2-10-4
though never built was the design that was the basis
and adapted for the the C & O for their T-1     
2-10-4's , which ultimately was the basis for the
Pennsy J-1 2-10-4's. The standards connection and
simmularity between the four roads ( Erie , NKP , C &
O and Pere Marquette) was they were all Van controlled
roads and under that control The Advisory Mechanical
Committee was formed to standardize all engineering
and maintenence procedures for the eventual merging of
the four roads.
