Oh, Tom, I've often fantasized about 2-10-4's on those grades (not pushing,
however) but I have been thinking about the never-built-but-conceptualized
Erie engines which are shown on page 331 of Erie Power.  I have a PRR J1
here (it belongs to a friend, for whom I am supposed to paint it one of
these years . . . ) and its drivers scale off at about 65-66".  That Erie
engine was designed to have >>>77"<<< drivers!  16'-4" high!  Total
wheelbase:  100' - 9 1/4"!  These would have been BIG engines!

And don't get me started on the 2-6-6-4!

But 1930 was a tough time to be thinking about new steam engines . . .
