Dear Joe and List,
One last jog of the memory:
When the Erie went bankrupt in 1939, it cut the NJ&NY loose "just like the
Susquehanna," page 29 ERIE LACKAWANNA: DEATH OF AN AMERICAN RAILROAD, by H.
Roger Grant, 1994. That explains the "trustee" name on the timetables, but
I have yet to unravel the reason Erie continued to operate the line. Later
in the same book, Grant explains that the NJ&NY bonds were rolled into the
Erie Lackawanna Railway of 1967-1968.
The book does not explain the Pascack Valley name.
