(erielack) What If?

Fellow listers,
    Since many of us have posted about what might have been if Erie 
Lackawanna had survived, would anyone care to speculate about what might have 
been if the Van Sweringen brothers of Cleveland would have been able to merge 
the NKP, Erie, C&O, and the Erie?
    Or how about later on when Allegheny Corp. wanted to for the first truly 
transcontinental RR which would have included the above plus  C&EI, Missouri 
Pacific, Rio Grande, and Western Pacific?
