Re: (erielack) New NJT locos



Chris,

I don't think reliability and esthetics are necessarily mutually
exclusive characteristics. If you look on Alstom's web site they do
actually produce several very pleasing designs. One thing that is
apparent is that the PRIMA platform is to this point, a freight
platform, at least according to all the units they themselves have
listed as being sold so far.

Obviously esthetics are subjective but a GG-1 still looks mighty good to
me today. Now an Aero-Train or one of the original Zephyrs, yes they do
seem just a tad dated. E's and FA's I think are much more timeless.

As for lamenting there passing I think it will be from a nostalgic point
of view rather than regretting the passing of an attractive design. Too
bad Raymond or Henry haven't been reincarnated. :)

But alas, this is truly a subjective issue. I just happen to find myself
in one of those rare moments when I agree with the majority.
