Another curiosity about the 1975 wreck at the Water Gap that claimed EL 3637 and CNJ 3069 has been discovered. In the CNJ tables of the FRA database, the wreck is listed. The specifics are: Lead unit CNJ 3068, nearest station is listed as Slateford Junction, temperature was 62 degrees, train speed was 37 mph, train number was 99 (ES-99), with 2460 tons, 17 loads, 41 empties, equipment damage was $546,840.00, track damage was $11,243.00, for a wreck total of $558,093.00. It also lists the time as 8:18 pm, and the date as 9-10-75. The date of the 10th differs from what is listed in Larry's book, Vol 3, which states 9-12-75. Interestingly, in a totally unrelated discussion, a B&O/CNJ author also mentioned the wreck of ex-B&O/CNJ 3069 as occurring on 9-10-75. Which date is the real deal? Does anybody have any other hard EL-based evidence beyond Larry's research? ------------------------------
