Apparently at Streigel in Baltimore (?) - would appear the unit was not cut up untill after 1980, which is pretty unbelieveable. Would have to have a visual verification on it's current existance, as it last was seen as a frame with trucks... frame number indicated it was either 1860 or 1861. Again here is the info I picked up off either the FM or EL board at railroad.net: Posted by robert lambrecht (lambolambrecht_@_netscape.net) on Fri, Mar 30, 01 at 17:34 In 1993 I found a H24-66 that had been cut down to a flat car but still had the FM trucks at Sparrows Point. It had a hand painted number on it , 4884. I'm guessing that it was from a H24 based on the fact that the dispos of the 58 H16's is well documented. Does any one know what its origin is. Erie, Lack, Reading? Based on the close proximity to Striegal the unit probably passed through there. Posted by: Peter Bergs (p.bergs_@_gte.net) on Sun, Apr 1, 01 at 21:06 Although I can't say for certain, it most likely is ex-EL since 2 former EL H24-66's were still at Striegel's sometime around the late 1970's or early 1980's. - ---------------------------- SDP45 slug: Believe W&LE returned this to NS, as they gave up on the SD45's which mothered this unit when they replaced them with a batch of SD40's (and some SD45's) from Wisconsin Central. They do still have an ex-UP SD40X , an SD40 prototype with an SD35 frame, though.
