Hi folks, Got back last night from a wonderful ELHS Annual Meeting in Marion. I'll provide a full report tonight when I'm at home, but I'll give a few brief comments and accolades: * It was great to meet some new faces to associate with E-mail addresses! "Hi!" to those list members I met for the first time this weekend: John Swiecki, George Elwood, Michael Dye, Mike Oravec, Len Allman, Ted Pilchak, Pete Scheckermann, and Dick Tubbs (please forgive me if I left anyone out!) Also, "hi" to the rest of the list members who might have been there but I didn't get a chance to personally say hello to. I'm quite proud of the fact that this list is made up of class-act members like the ones I met this weekend! :) * Marion has a LOT of trains rolling through it, 60-70 movements around the station each day! Multiple meets! Wow! Photos to follow... * The Marion Union Station Association has done a beautiful job restoring the station. The station, by the way, was a LOT smaller than I expected (but that's probably because a lot of the surrounding buildings have been torn down), but it's a beautiful structure nevertheless. Restored AC tower is magnificent (and hey, I now know how to line up a reverse movement from the eastbound main to the westbound main into the yard! :) * The MUSA folks were also able to convince CSX to repaint former Erie/EL bay-window C347 from its CR blue paint to EL "spartan red", with its EL number. CSX will remove the EL number in the next week or so and replace it with a CSX number, but it will still be red and wearing the EL diamond! A very nice treat to see! * Dick Tubbs and his wife Esther must be given a big round of applause for their hard work in setting up this Annual Meeting - it went over flawlessly, due in large part to their tremendous efforts.
