Folks: *the 3657 got an entire 45-2 style body above the frame, aside from the extra hood length** The 3657 got the SD45-2 body with 1 more foot added, may have gotten the cabinet but did not get dash 2 eletronics (still doesn't have them), and still has the larger fuel tank. It now works with passenger equipment and Missoula locals as MRL 332. It is longer than a regular SD45-2. Last time I saw it, it was a helper with the American Orient Express (AOE)when one of their diners derailed in Garrison, MT. The AOE diner dilema tied up the whole railroad for more than half a day, was removed from the train for the ride to/from Helena for the Gates of the Mountains and Charley Russell art in Great Falls. Later, the AOE came back through on its way to Glacier National Park, then back down to Idaho Falls and Yellowstone NP. One can really get a train ride working *security* on those trains, but you need to have most of the summer to do it. In this sens, security is another word for go-fer in the different stops. Anyway, that is where I last saw EL 3657 hauling varnish. For a while, it was tied up with the Montana Centenial unit (an SDP-40) and MRL 360 (formerly NYSW 3624 still in yellow jacket paint).
