From: "Steven W.kay" <stevekay_@_csnet.net> > For those of you who may have mixed emotions about various train watching venues might I suggest "Lotsa Pasta" in the Upper Montclair station (Erie Greenwood Lake Branch). Not only will you get to see "Lotsa Trains" but you will be so close to the action (due to the outdoor eating area) that your dinner will be liberally coated with diesel exhaust and brake shoe smoke (forget the parmesan cheese and garlic powder). > With the crossings of Bellevue and Lorraine streets bracketing the station you will always know when the next train is coming so as to be able to grab your camera in time to get that great shot of your plate of pasta rumbling toward the edge of the table. > The grade is up hill westbound so you can record those great sounds of turbocharged 645s dragging the train out of the station toward Mountain Ave. > I have no idea about the quality of the food but with the afternoon rush hour pounding by, who cares.....8>) Of course there is also the Dover station. The restaurant in the Mountain Lakes station has reopened (upscale, though), and I think it has an outdoor dining area. Mt Tabor has the Rattlesnake Ranch, with an outdoor area facing the grade crossing. ===== Gary R. Kazin DL&W Milepost R35.7 Rockaway, New Jersey New Jersey Transit - THE WAY TO GO!!!
