SP currently has six ex-EL SDP45s operational as SD40M-2s (they still have
the same carbody as the EL's), number 8691-8696. The 8692 was overhauled and
repainted last year as UP 2768. From what I understand, they're working the
dock/intermodal distribution regions in heavy transfer service and stray
frequently. Last "close encounter" here was in janesville, WI in March.
 
By the way-Aristocraft (G-gauge, 1:29 scale) will have a EL SD45 in two
numbers available in the fall. Street price will be about $250.
