DN and ND did NOT stand for NY to Detroit. EL did not go to Detroit and did not make blocks for Detroit at Meadville or Marion.
There were some trains on the Dayton (Ohio) branch that were symbolled DN, such as DN-98 and DN -91....don't quote me on the numbers but the "D" in DN did NOT stand for Detroit.
