(erielack) NJT to Stanhope, and crossing Lake Hopatcong

Dear Group,

I only recently realized that Stanhope has been dropped as a station
stop (it was formerly served by NJT Netcong trains before service was
extended to Hackettstown).  Any opinions as to when / why Stanhope was
dropped?  

Also, having never visited Lake Hopatcong (by car or by train)... just
looking at the map, it appears that both the DL&W Old Main and Cutoff
must cross the southern end of the lake.  Is this the case?  Are there
bridges or causeways?
