The Septeber (I believe) issue of Trains Magazine had an Ed King column
that contained the view of some operating employee that people who stand =
in
the tracks, try to beat trains, etc. represent, in a Darwinian kind of wa=
y,
a "thinning of the herd".  Someone who stands between the gauge in front =
of
a moving train to get "the ultimate photo" may indeed be doing his part t=
o
help thin the herd for the rest of us.
