Re: (erielack) Lackawanna and Pittsburgh

1882: The Lackawanna & Pittsburgh ran from Lackawanna Jct. (Belfast, NY) on
the Buffalo, New York & Philadelphia (a PRR predecessor) to Wayland Jct.
(Perkinsville, NY) on the DL&W. It was about 42 miles long. It also
consisted of a narrow guage line from Angelica, NY to Olean, NY.
The L&P had trackage rights on the BNY&P all the way to New Castle, PA - 207
miles! It went belly-up after about two years and went through several name
changes before becoming part of the PS&N.

It was the L&P which built the horseshoe viaduct over the Erie Buffalo Line
at Swain, NY. This was later filled in. You can still see its remains
today. Also, the L&P built the viaduct over Stony Brook Glen.

Paul Pietrak's book on the PS&N tells it all.
