the 1929 S-4 class (2-8-4) was the newest Erie
steam, wasn't it?"

I believe that over the years all four subclasses of
the Erie S class Berkshires have been produced (more
or less accurately) in brass:
S-1 & S-2: mid-80's Korean can't remenber the importer
S-3: late 80's Jonan-Japan, painted but unlettered,
has the wrong bell bracket on smokebox
S-4: early 70's PFM Japan; both painted and unpainted
versions sold

In recent months several S-4's have been offered on
e-bay, with prices in $400-$600 range.
