Conrail started retiring the GP35's piece-meal by the mid 1980's. The last
GP35's remained in storage during a traffic downturn, and several were
temporarily reactivated in the early 1990's. I believe that the last GP35's
were retired in 1991. MANY of the GP35's were sold/rebuilt for shortlines,
so they do still exist in other paint schemes...
