Re: (erielack) Bison reopening - effect on Gang Mills?

During Conrail most of the APL business went either River Line or PRR route,
even when making a pickup at Croxton (River line routing). Southern Tier was
used for overflow, as necessary, and as little as possible. The Sealand stuff
(LittleFerry) came over the ST because of the agreement which included NYSW
in the routing. Once CSX took over the their piece of CR this has (for the
most part) been routed River Line. Problem with the RL is capacity,
especially as CSX picked up a couple of the big customers which were at NJIT
and moved them to SK.The other doublestack business which operates ST is the
Hanjin traffic which is destined for Resources Terminal. This routing
contractually includes NS chgo-buffalo, CP(D&H) buf-binghamton and NYSW bing
to Resources. Early in the takeover NS actually routed one of these trains
via the PRR route. Probably had to make the others whole on their divisions!
I understand this contract is up end of this year, so we could see a
different routing altogher--either CSX or NS. NS has a good relationship with
Hanjin, (H has a large dedicated CY in NS's Landers yard), so it is probably
not unreasonable to expect NS to remain a player in the routing to North
Jersey. I understand that Hanjin is quite happy at Resources, so it would
appear that NYSW would retain some ,perhaps small piece of the action.
