Sitting in Oak Island yard today is a rare locomotive, a Baldwin AS616 No.52.
This is one of the Trona Baldwins, sold to SMS Rail Service of Bridgeport,
N.J. SMS bought all three from Johnston Terminals in Oklahoma, but only
shipped the units east as they needed them. The unit at Oak Island should
look pretty sun bleached. It's there pending the resolution of some
paperwork, so it could leave at any time. But it's likely there for at least
thw weekend.
