November 30 ,1964 On this date in Sussex Branch History: Becker's creamery at Strader's closed, and the last milk train ran on the branch. And as Lowenthal/Greenberg so aptly said: “the last switch was thrown for the Sussex Railroad to roll away into legend.” (Sing slowly with feeling) Four years past the merger, the creamery closed. Train Masters kept trundling, despite EL's woes. The passengers dwindled, though weeds never grew, Until '66, on the day we all rue. Oh, will you remember that Sussex Branch 'road? 'Twas built round the hills, through the fields newly sown.
