Thanks for the feedback, This brings up an interesting point. Why was Chessie System so interested in the EL in 1975 if it never really utilized it as a direct run through or pool partner? I am going dig through "Death of an American Railroad" again for clues. The list members here have well documented all of EL's pool power arraignments here and there is plenty of photographic evidence to back it up. But a photo of EL/Chessie power in a lashup would be a neat and colorful find indeed :-) We all recall the alphabet route don't we? That was the plan of some eastern Railroads to move freight in and out of New England, Novembers trivia question could be... What Railroads made up "The Alphabet Route". Clue - I don't think Erie/DL&W/EL played any part in it. Could be a reason why Chessie bypassed EL, Just a thought. I remember as a kid looking through a RR trade magazine and seeing a full color add boasting the advantages of the "Alphabet Route". It was the first time I realized how far a boxcar could roll in short span of time using more than one railroad! Well in the meantime I guess I'll have to slap a diamond in the model RR so the rivet counters won't have a heart attack when the Chess-C Kitty goes by .... Or did I tell ya about the time the entire B&O mainline washed away and EL ..........
