I live in Ravenna, Ohio along the old Erie. Last week I saw a maintainer
walking the tracks in town. I spoke briefly with him. He too heard that
NS may use the old Erie to run coal trains. He mentioned that they may
use the W+LE interchange with the Erie in Kent and then go west from
there.The track is missing west of Latimer, Ohio. So I would imagine any
west bound traffic would have to head south (if its possible) on the
former NYC Ashtabula line from Latimer and then west at Coalburg on the
old Erie to Meadville.
